ook illustrations aren't just for children's books, although that is where they are most commonly found. Some adults, say, an artist (moi), appreciate illustrations in books for adults, although they need to be more sophisticated than the illustrations found in children's books.
Technical illustrations for industry books -- called images or figures -- help illustrate machines, engines, processes, and environments. Illustrations aren't limited to books. They can be found in any kind of printed or digital publication such as journals, newsletters, magazines, and more.
I draw illustrations for different industries and book genres. I can create a technical illustration for the mining industry one week and a mystical illustration for a book on fantasy or fairy tales the next. All the illustrations in the rotating banner are details from ones that I have done.
